How to open blocked account for Germany?

If you want to study in Germany as an international student, one of the most important things you need is a blocked account.

The German embassy asks for this account when you apply for your student visa. In this blog, I will guide you on how to open a blocked account in Germany.

What Is a Blocked Account?

A blocked account (called Sperrkonto in German) is a special bank account that international students need to open if they want to study in Germany. This account shows that you have enough money to live in Germany.

The money is “blocked,” which means:

  • You can’t take out all the money at once
  • You will get a fixed amount every month (for example, €992 per month)

This account is required when applying for a German student visa.

These are fast and simple but may have limits. For example:

  • Some blocked account providers allow only 3 transactions per account.
  • You must make sure the name and reference number are correct.

Do not use Payoneer. It is not recommended for blocked account transfers.
